$26.7 million for a 102k Diamond at Auction

Famed jeweler Harry Winston has just recently purchased a flawless 101.73 pear-shaped diamond at a record breaking price of $26.7 U.S. Dollars, at an auction in Geneva. this_flawless_d_colored_diamond_sold_for_a_record_267_million_at_christies_geneva_auction_zubm1_ht4rh It took 21 months to polish the diamond and it is considered to be the largest D-colored diamond to ever be auctioned. Its special characteristics like its color, shape and perfect cuts make it an “object d’art” according to Rahul Kadakia, head of Jewelry at Christie’s.   The diamond is said to have been found in Botswana, in a Jwaneng mine, which is property of De Beers.
